Defensive tackle

This is going to surprise some people, but I wasn’t impressed with the defensive tackle group.

There were flashes where people looked really good, but then no one talked about when they didn’t follow up. For example, Neville Gallimore was supposed to solidify his status as an athletic DT and push for a spot in the first round.

That was easy to say when he ran his 40, but what happened after that?

Yea, that isn’t good.

Then you had Javon Kinlaw miss the combine after he missed basically all of the Senior Bowl. Combine that with Derrick Brown testing like a space eating nose tackle instead of the freak Ndamukong Suh-like prospect we were all promised, and that is a bad day for the DT class.

Without any DTs who look like they can make a big impact in the passing game, it wouldn’t surprise me to see a run on offensive tackles, quarterbacks and receivers, push even the big name DTs down to the middle of round one and beyond.

The Titans should look hard for a solution in free agency if they can get it for cheap, but otherwise they would be better off waiting until late in the third round or on Day 3 of the 2020 NFL Draft to fix their issue rushing the passer from the inside.
