Day 2 of 2020 NFL Scouting Combine means clarity at EDGE for Tennessee Titans
What does Tuesday bring for the Tennessee Titans 2020 NFL Draft plans?
We have already seen some noteable measurements from the offense, but now we are going to get our first look at some potential Tennessee Titans draft prospects on the defensive side of the ball.
The 2020 NFL Scouting Combine resumes today for another round of young, talented prospects looking to make a name for themselves among NFL scouts, coaches and executives.
The Titans have an array of positions that need to be filled or upgraded, but no position could use more help than EDGE.
They struggled last year to get the quarterback, ranking only 13th in the league in sacks last season. Although that may seem alright, it needs to be upgraded quickly if the Titans want to be considered a serious contended next year.
Edge defenders arrive at the combine for the first time today and there are plenty of quality players that the Titans should seriously consider interviewing and continuing to watch over the course of the combine.
Notre Dame’s Julian Okwara, who contributed four sacks for the Fighting Irish last year, is someone that could play a role on a struggling Titans defensive line. The 6’4, 248 pound senior showed that he can play at a high level.
Something to look at while eyeing prospects is what their season-high games were because that shows what they are capable of and good coaches will be able to shave off the bad games as they work with higher level coaching and get stronger. Julian had three sacks against Virginia along for another three tackles for loss which is exciting for Titans fans, if they decide to pursue him.
Yetur Gross-Matos is another guy that the Titans could snag in the first round to strengthen the D-Line.
His ability to get after the quarterback is one that is hard to find a match for in this years draft. He tallied nine sacks in his junior season which is one sack improvement from a year before. Along with getting after the quarterback, he also recorded two forced fumbles in his sophomore year.
He recorded a combined 34.5 tackles for loss in his last two campaigns and would be a great addition to any defensive line off the edge.
