Day 1 — D’Andre Swift, Georgia
While arguments could be made for running backs J.K. Dobbins and Jonathan Taylor (Ohio State and Wisconsin, respectively), Georgia running back D’Andre Swift gets the nod here.
A one-cut, slasher, Swift presents well as a zone runner. The former Georgia Bulldog exhibits singular speed on the edge on stretch plays and is the kind of player to build an offense around.
But, that’s not why he enters the first round, for me. The Titans could fill a void here — if (and only if) they move on from Henry — by selecting a true every-down tailback.
Swift’s ability as a pass-catcher is second to none in this draft class. He is capable of running a full route-true and, often, was split out wide at Georgia. An electric playmaker, Swift is a threat every time he touches the ball, and the opposition will need to gameplan for him.
If the Titans view Henry as identical to the other top-tier running backs, Swift would be an excellent selection if the team moves forward with a draftee in lieu of number 22.
