Predicting which of Titans 22 free agents get re-signed
Austin Johnson
Austin Johnson is a solid player. Underwhelming as a second-round pick, however, and with the emergence of Jeffery Simmons, Johnson might be expendable. Jurrell Casey, Daquan Jones, and Simmons is a respectable D-line, and I don’t see Jon Robinson spending big for an average backup.
Reggie Gilbert
Reggie Gilbert is a guy I do not expect back next season. With D’Andre Walker returning to health, I doubt Gilbert will be brought back on the edge, unless as a cheap camp body.
Wesley Woodyard
Wesley Woodyard went from being the heart and soul of this Titans’ defense, to a rotational backup due to stellar drafting at the inside linebacker position. Woodyard is still valued as a veteran leader, but i’m not sure that will be enough to warrant him being brought back. Re-signing Woodyard would be a luxury, not a need.
Daren Bates
Daren Bates’ future in Tennessee depends on how much Vrabel values special teams. Bates is almost exclusively a special teams player at this point, albeit a good one. His market most likely won’t be outrageous, so I would expect Bates back in his role.
Kamalei Correa
Kamalei Correa was an important piece of the Titans’ defense in 2019, and he’s honestly an underrated player. Correa contributed seven sacks on the year, and the pass-rushing unit is already one of the thinnest units on the team. Expect Correa to be back if the price is right.
