Marcus Mariota

Tannehill isn’t the only Titans quarterback headed for free agency. A year ago, Marcus Mariota was widely expected — at least by Titans fans — to command a big second contract from the team.

That will not end up being the case. It’s almost a foregone conclusion Mariota will be suiting up elsewhere in 2020. I recently laid out some possible destinations for the former No. 2 overall pick if you’re interested in where the young signal-caller could land next.

David Fluellen

A staple of the Titans’ running back room for several seasons now, I think it’s finally time “Flu SZN” moves on. I just don’t see the team dishing out money for a third RB on the depth chart, especially when David Fluellen could easily be replaced by a cheaper rookie back. Khari Blasingame looked very promising as a FB/TE hybrid as well, making Fluellen all the more expendable.

Tajae Sharpe, Darius Jennings, Cameron Batson

Darius Jennings was already cut once this season, and only brought back out of necessity, so I would not expect him back in 2020.

Cameron Batson is a feel-good story, initially making the team in 2018 as a UDFA. However, his 2019 season was lost due to injury and it remains to be seen if Vrabel and Co. saw enough from him before the injury to bring him back. I would not be surprised to see Batson elsewhere.

Tajae Sharpe has been one of the most consistent receivers on the Titans for a few years now. Sharpe is a solid complementary receiver, but he is far from a first or second option. Ultimately, I don’t see retaining Sharpe as being a top priority for the team, and he will most likely get an offer elsewhere that the Titans will be unwilling to match.
