4 backup QBs the Tennessee Titans should target in free agency
Blake Bortles
The Titans know quarterback Blake Bortles well. He was drafted by Tennessee’s division rival, the Jacksonville Jaguars, with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft and is one of the mid-tier backup choices for Tennessee on the open market.
After five up-and-down (mostly down) seasons in Jacksonville and just one winning campaign, the Jags let Bortles walk and he moved on to the Los Angeles Rams to be quarterback Jared Goff’s backup in 2019. Bortles attempted just two passes all season.
What Bortles does have is starting experience and two playoff wins under his belt. In fact, he probably should have had three and a Super Bowl appearance if not for a major collapse in the AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots during the 2017 season.
I know there will be more than one Titans fan rolling their eyes at this choice, but the Titans could certainly do worse in a backup. Bortles should be someone the Titans target, and Tennessee could be a team Bortles is very interested in with Tannehill’s aforementioned injury history.
