Most Improved Player: Jonnu Smith

With Delanie Walker coming off a serious injury and being another year older, this was the perfect time for Jonnu Smith to show us something.

Delanie started off hot but would eventually be placed on IR, and we could have seen the last of Walker in a Titans uniform. Now, that might be a scary thought, but Smith stepped up and showed promise.

After not doing much of anything his first 2 seasons in the league, I’ll admit I was not sold on Jonnu being the guy to take over for Delanie. Thankfully, however, Smith would have his best season in 2019, finishing the regular season with 35 receptions for 439 yards and three touchdowns.

Now those are respectable numbers for a tight end, especially when you factor in that Walker was not placed on IR until November. Before 2019, Smith’s career-high in receptions was only 20. After being thrust into a larger role, Smith responded and gave Titans fans a little glimmer of hope for life after Delanie Walker.
