Defensive Player of the Year: Harold Landry
The Titans know they have at least one star pass-rusher. Harold Landry built on a solid rookie season by delivering a team-high nine sacks and 68 tackles in 2019.
If only he had some help. Jurrell Casey and Kamalei Correa were tied for second on the team in sacks with five apiece. So as you can see, most of the Titans’ pass rush was delivered by Landry.
Without Landry in the fold, the Titans would have had almost no pass-rush to speak of. Brian Orakpo and Derrick Morgan retired before the 2019 season began, and Cameron Wake went down to injury and was a no-show after Week 1.
These circumstances meant Landry would need to step up in 2019, and you cannot really ask for more. It seemed like all season Landry was finding a way to get into the opposing team’s backfield.
This defensive unit as a whole was strong all year, but it’s easy to make a case for Landry having the biggest individual impact.
