Winner: Linebackers in run defense

We can’t give recognition to the Titans’ defense for its improved numbers against the run without talking about what the linebackers did to help, and in particular Rashaan Evans, whose speed and instincts shined against the run time and time again.

Loser: Linebackers’ pass-rush

Despite the development of Harold Landry and the addition of Cameron Wake, Tennessee only added four more sacks to their 2018 total during the 2019 season. That isn’t enough, and we saw that in the AFC title game when the Titans couldn’t generate enough of a pass-rush to throw Patrick Mahomes off.

If this defense wants to take that next step, they’ve got to be able to get to the quarterback more consistently. Look for Tennessee to add at least one pass-rusher this offseason, whether that be through free agency or in the draft.
