Winner: Defensive line in run defense

If there was one aspect where the Titans’ defensive line as a whole really shined, it was in run defense. After finishing as the No. 18 run defense in 2018, the Titans improved to No. 12 in 2019.

A lot of that had to do with the big guys upfront, as Jurrell Casey, Jeffery Simmons and DaQuan Jones held opposing rushing attacks to 104.5 points per game.

While there is still room for improvement, Tennessee got a better effort against opposing rushing attacks and covered one of the biggest holes this defense had coming into 2019.

Loser: Defensive line pass-rush

One issue that wasn’t solved was the Titans getting pressure on opposing quarterbacks, and that was never more apparent than in the AFC title game against the Chiefs.

Without blitzing, the Titans weren’t able to make signal-callers uncomfortable, and being able to do so starts with the defensive line. There were definitely flashes during the season, but the D-linemen getting pressure was never consistently done.
