2. Calais Campbell DL, Jacksonville Jaguars

The Titans should sign Campbell this offseason just to keep him from hitting their quarterback every year. I’m only partially joking.

Now, I know that Campbell isn’t technically a free agent this season, but right now the Jaguars are already $2 million over cap for next season and that is with 21 players scheduled to hit free agency including Yannick Ngakoue who they have been adamant about re-signing even though he has said it won’t be cheap.

If/when the Jaguars are forced to make cuts, cutting Campbell would free up $15 million and it would allow Jacksonville to go with Ngakoue and their last two first round picks (Josh Allen and Taven Bryan) as their starters on the EDGE.

For the Tennessee Titans, we have no idea who the next DC is going to be but whatever defense they run the pass rush desperately needs to be better. Well, along with being an elite run defender, Campbell might be the perfect player to teach another large human like Jeffery Simmons how to rush the passer.

While Campbell is build like a defensive lineman and can line up inside easily, PFF says that he lined up against the offensive tackle (DE or OLB) on 73% of his snaps.

What that means is that you could have a pass rush unit that had Harold Landry, Jurrell Casey, Jeffery Simmons, and Calais Campbell overwhelming offensive lines. Sign me up for that.
