Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill has been named Pro Football Focus’ Comeback Player of the Year.

Quarterback Ryan Tannehill resurrected his career with the Tennessee Titans in 2019, and he is rightfully receiving recognition for it.

Tannehill, who was traded to the Titans from the Miami Dolphins after the 2018 season, finished with 2,742 passing yards and 22 touchdowns to six picks, and also scored four rushing touchdowns.

Tannehill also finished with the best passer rating in the NFL (117.5) and the third-highest completion percentage (70.3). Adding to that, he was Pro Football Focus’ highest-graded quarterback of 2019

After taking over the starting job in Week 7, Tannehill led the Titans to a 7-3 record the rest of the regular season, which led to a playoff berth at 9-7 after a 2-4 start.

For his efforts, Pro Football Focus has chosen Tannehill as its Comeback Player of the Year.

"Comeback Player of the Year has always been light on details and criteria, but whatever the measure it would be hard to give the award to anybody other than Ryan Tannehill this season for what he did with the Tennessee Titans."

Most importantly, Tannehill showed that he’s the answer the Titans have been looking for under center, at least for the foreseeable future.

Now all that’s left is for Tennessee to figure out a way to bring him back in 2020, which could come in the form of a new contract or one of the two tags (franchise or transition) the team has at its disposal.

This is the second time that Tannehill is receiving such an award.

The Pro Football Writers of America also named Tannehill as its Comeback Player of the Year, but also named him the Most Improved Player of the Year. He was the first Titans player to receive either honor.

The biggest award left for Tannehill to win will be the AP Comeback Player of the Year, which will be handed out at the NFL Honors show on February 1st, the night before the Super Bowl.

Tannehill will be a member of the AFC squad at this year’s Pro Bowl, which will be broadcast on ABC and ESPN on Sunday at 2 p.m. CST.
