With the 61st pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans select… J.K. Dobbins RB, Ohio State.

To me this is a “run to the podium” type of pick for the Titans, but it also feels pretty realistic. In a class without a superstar running back, having Dobbins at RB3 with some teams concerned about the offense he played in and his competition feels like it could be fair.

Like the first round pick for the Titans, this pick is all about fit.

Dobbins has exceptional third down capabilities and was really fun to watch as a guy who you knew could beat a defense through the air or on the ground. That last part is crucial because aside from Derrick Henry, Tennessee hasn’t had someone with both of those traits since DeMarco Murray‘s first season.

Dobbins gives Tennessee a true two-headed monster at running back. Assuming that Henry comes back on a franchise tag, this is the perfect candidate to be his potential replacement but if Henry is still going strong then you can use Dobbins in a more limited role.

The Titans have to find a way to force the defense to respect the RB2 in this offense, otherwise teams are going to blitz and play pass every time they see Henry go out of the game. That is a big reason why the Titans lost in the AFC Championship game.
