Delanie Walker

2020 salary: $8 million

2020 dead cap: $1.6 million

2020 savings from cutting Walker: $6.4 million

Let me preface this by saying that I love Delanie Walker and everything he has brought to this team over the years. When the franchise was in its darkest days, he remained loyal and was the team’s best player.

However, Walker will be 36 when next season starts and is coming off another season that ended early due to injury. The veteran tight end simply wasn’t able to fully recover from the brutal ankle injury he suffered in 2018, playing in just seven games before landing on IR.

Walker will be due $8 million in the final year of his contract, and with the emergence of Jonnu Smith as the starting tight end, that figure is too high for the Titans to pay.

Tennessee could try to bring Walker back for less money, but it remains to be seen if he’d be open to that. Either way, the Titans can’t bring him back at that figure he’s currently set to make.
