ESPN talking head Stephen A. Smith believes impending free agent quarterback Tom Brady should go to the Tennessee Titans in 2020.

As quarterback Tom Brady prepares to hit free agency, there’s a strong belief that he won’t be returning to the New England Patriots in 2020. If that happens, expect the Tennessee Titans to be one team that everyone talks as a possible landing spot for the future Hall of Famer.

One of the people already pegging the Titans as a possible destination for the 42-year-old quarterback is none other than ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith.

On his show “First Take” with Max Kellerman, Smith believes Nashville is where Brady should play next season.

"“I’m here to tell you something right now, it’s Tennessee. The Tennessee Titans, the team that lost in the AFC Championship Game last year, is where Tom Brady should go.”"

Kellerman and moderator Molly Qerim both counter that statement by saying they believe Ryan Tannehill is better than Brady at this stage of their careers, but Smith points out how Tannehill is a free agent in the offseason and his future with the team is uncertain.

Smith then goes into how the Titans are a perfect fit for Brady, with a stud receiver like A.J. Brown, and a running back like Derrick Henry who can help take pressure off. Henry is also a free agent this offseason.

He also notes that Brady wouldn’t be a long-term commitment for Tennessee, and, of course, points out Brady’s connection with head coach Mike Vrabel, who was Brady’s former teammate in New England.

Is Brady to the Titans a realistic possibility?

I mean, I guess it’s possible, but do the Titans really want to be back in this boat looking for a quarterback again with Brady likely on the verge of retirement in a year or two?

And who’s to say that Brady would even be remotely better than Tannehill?

Sure, Brady’s resume is impressive, but that doesn’t help the Titans now. Based on their 2019 numbers, Tannehill certainly has the edge in the “what have you done for me lately?” department. Choosing Brady over Tannehill would almost certainly be a downgrade.

I continue to believe that Tannehill should be the No. 1 option for the Titans in 2020, and if that falls through for some reason, then Brady should be the next target if he’s still available.
