The high school stats of Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry are jaw-dropping.

Before he was dominating like he is now in the NFL, and even before he was a Heisman trophy-winning back for Alabama in college, Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry was a monster in high school.

The Yulee, Florida native went to Yulee High School and in four seasons totaled an astounding 12,124 yards (8.7 yards per carry) and 153 touchdowns on the ground.

According to Roman Stubbs of the Washington Post, Henry was “benching 365 pounds, clean-jerking 315 pounds, squatting 500 pounds and deadlifting 550 pounds to go with 4.5-second speed in the 40-yard dash” by his senior year.

He weighed in at an astounding 240 pounds in his senior year, which means high school kids had to try and tackle Henry at roughly the same size he is currently. Grown men can’t even do that.

Here’s a rundown of his first three years of high school ball, courtesy of MaxPreps.com.

Freshman: 313 carries, 2,465 yards and 26 touchdowns

Sophomore: 313 carries, 2,788 yards and 38 touchdowns

Junior: 309 carries, 2,610 yards and 34 touchdowns

While those are all certainly impressive, the real eye-opening season came in his Senior year when he totaled a remarkable 4,261 rushing yards and 55 touchdowns on 462 carries.

No, there’s no typo there; that is his actual stat line. Take a look at his game log from that season.

That season, Henry compiled three 400-yard games and three 300-yard games. He also totaled 510 rushing yards (and six touchdowns) in a single game, a Florida high school record.

As you can imagine, Henry’s high school numbers are historic and he is considered one of, if not the greatest, running back in high school history.

The 4,261 yards and 55 touchdowns are both state records, and his 12,124 career rushing yards shattered the national high school mark set by former Sugar Land High School star Ken Hall, who rushed for 11,232 yards.

Henry was a three-sport star in high school, excelling in football, basketball and track, which explains why he has breakaway speed even for a guy who stands at 6-foot-3 and weighs 247 pounds.

Even at the NFL level, Derrick Henry is still a man among boys.
