CBS Sports picks

The picks for the eight experts at CBS Sports for the Titans-Ravens game are as follows.

Pete Prisco: Baltimore (21-17)

Jason La Canfora: Baltimore

Will Brinson: Baltimore

Jared Dubin: Baltimore

Ryan Wilson: Baltimore

John Breech: Tennessee

Dave Richard: Baltimore

Jamey Eisenberg: Baltimore

Of the eight CBS Sports experts making picks, only one brave soul has chosen Tennessee over Baltimore, while the other seven are all going with the Ravens. In last week’s version, six of the eight experts went with the Patriots over the Titans.

Pete Prisco, who has Baltimore emerging victorious over Tennessee by a score of 21-17, had this to say about the game.

"This should be an old-fashioned slugfest, featuring two teams that want to pound the football. The Titans do it with powerful Derrick Henry running the ball, while the Ravens do it with Lamar Jackson keying the run offense. Whichever defense can stop the run the best is the team that wins the game. I think that’s the Ravens. But it will be close. Look for a tough, physical game with the Ravens finding a way late."

When looking at each team’s run defense based on DVOA, the Titans get a slight edge over the Ravens, as Tennessee is ranked 10th, while Baltimore is ranked 19th. Based on normal rushing yards allowed per game, Baltimore is ranked No. 5 and Tennessee is ranked No. 12.

But Baltimore isn’t your averaging rushing team.

Not only did they average over 200 yards per contest and broke the all-time record for rushing yards by a team in a single season, their quarterback, Lamar Jackson, has one-of-a-kind speed and finished with the sixth-most rushing yards in the NFL in 2019.

So not only does Tennessee have to stop a running back, it also has to stop Jackson on the ground and through the air. The Titans will need an entire team effort on defense if they’re going to keep Jackson in check and win this game.
