3. Kansas City Chiefs

It has been a very weird season for the Chiefs in 2019.

Not only did Patrick Mahomes suffer a scary injury that had us thinking the worst when it happened, but the Chiefs also didn’t look like the same dominant team from a year ago even when he was healthy.

That all changed after their Week 10 loss to the Titans.

Kansas City went on to win their last six games by a combined score of 167-69 and managed to work their way into the No. 2 seed in the AFC after a Week 17 win over the Los Angeles Chargers combined with a Patriots loss to the Dolphins.

While we certainly wouldn’t consider the Chiefs unbeatable, they do draw a very favorable matchup against a Texans team that has been the model of inconsistency this season. Kansas City might have dropped an earlier matchup to Houston during the 2019 campaign, but this is a very different Chiefs team that has gotten hot at the right time.
