7. Tennessee Titans
The Titans faced a tall task in having to take down the defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots in Foxborough, but head coach Mike Vrabel’s squad was able to tame the beast and pull off the upset win.
Despite their respective records, this wasn’t a traditional upset, as the Patriots hadn’t been looking like themselves for much of the season.
Tennessee had been one of the hottest teams in the NFL in the second half of the season, while New England was struggling down the stretch and lost three of their last five games, including a Week 17 contest against the Miami Dolphins that dropped it to the No. 3 seed.
Tennessee’s defense was able to keep Tom Brady in check, and Derrick Henry carried the Titans on his back to a 20-13 win that might have ended the Patriots’ dynasty.
Things will only get harder for the Titans in the divisional round, as a matchup with Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens awaits. No team in the NFL has really figured Jackson out, so the Titans will have their work cut out for them in that one.
