Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill and wide receiver A.J. Brown both won monthly awards.

Tennessee Titans wide receiver A.J. Brown and quarterback Ryan Tannehill both received recognition on Thursday by winning Player of the Month awards.

The Titans quarterback nabbed the AFC Offensive Player of the Month award for December. Tannehill completed 68 percent of his passes for 1,322 yards and 12 touchdowns to two picks. He also added 62 rushing yards and one touchdown in that span.

Brown earned the honor as the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Month with 21 catches for 470 yards and four touchdowns. The Ole Miss product carried the ball twice for 62 yards, and one of those carries went for a 49-yard score.

Tannehill and Brown have been key to the Titans’ turnaround from a 2-4 record to a playoff berth at 9-7. Tannehill has revived his career in the second half of this season, while Brown has emerged as one of the most promising young players in the NFL.

Because of their respective performances in 2019, both players could be bringing home more hardware when it’s all said and done. Brown should be considered one of the front-runners for Offensive Rookie of the Year, and Tannehill is almost a lock for Comeback Player of the Year.

But before that’s decided, the Titans have bigger fish to fry.

Tennessee will meet the New England Patriots in a wild card matchup on Saturday at Gillette Stadium at 7:15 p.m. CST, with the Titans looking for their first playoff win since the 2017-18 season that ended with a loss to these same Patriots in the divisional round.

Regardless of what happens on Saturday, Tannehill and Brown have given hope for the future with how they’ve helped elevate this Titans offense to new levels this season.

Tannehill, who finally looks to be the answer this franchise has been looking for at quarterback for years now, will be a free agent after the 2020 season, but reports suggest the Titans will look to give him a new contract at some point during the offseason.
