No.4: Center Ben Jones

Titans Tenure: 2016-Present

Titans current center Ben Jones is one of the more unique personalities to wear the two-tone blue this decade. His pregame ritual consists of a barefoot walk on the field regardless of the weather conditions which can look torturous at times towards the back half of the season depending on the location of the game.

Jones is undoubtedly one of the more mentally and physically tough players on the team but his most impressive trait is his durability. One of the common sayings in the NFL is there best ability is  availability’ and Jones is impeccable in that regards.

During his tenure with the Titans, he has started in 63 out of 64 games since signing with Tennessee back in 2016 and is commonly praised by his peers and coaches as one of the smartest players on the team.

The Titans’ current starting center does a great job in helping the offense get into the right protection/blocking scheme based on the look the defenses gives them. One thing that Jones excels at but often gets overlooked by the casual fan is his ability to work his way from the first level of defense to the second level.

His ability to chip an opposing defensive lineman before taking out an opposing linebacker in the run game is one of the things that currently separates him as one of the best centers in the game. ‘Pro Football Focus’ had Jones graded as the third best center following the 2019 season.  These things I just listed are some of the many reasons why the former Georgia Bulldog was handsomely rewarded by the Titans with a well deserved contract extension that will take him into the next decade.

Ben Jones’ consistency, durability, and leadership not only earned him a spot in the Titans’ future plans, but it also earned him the right to call himself the Titans’ fourth best offensive linemen of the decade.
