Ranking Tennessee Titans top 4 safeties of the decade
By John Lowell
2. Michael Griffin
Perhaps one of the most exciting first round draft picks in Titans history, S Michael Griffin was a stud coming out of college. His highlight reels were chock full of gigantic hits, interceptions, and an innate ability to locate the football.
At 6-feet tall, 215 pounds, Griffin ran a 4.45 40-yard-dash at the combine, cementing his stock as a potential first-rounder. The Titans selected him at No. 19 overall in the 2007 NFL Draft, and Griffin did not disappoint.
While his seven-interception 2008 Pro Bowl season was probably his most electric, Griffin also earned the honors in 2010, tallying 108 combined tackles, four interceptions, two forced fumbles and 12 passes defended. After turning in solid seasons from 2011-2013, Griffin led the Titans in tackles in 2014 with 112 combined, adding three sacks, two interceptions, and five passes defended.
Overall, Griffin was a force in the secondary for nine seasons in Tennessee. And, after brief tours from Minnesota to Carolina, Griffin hung up the cleats following the 2016 season.
