Optimism: Drew Brees’ outdoor splits

As a Titans fan, you might have been sitting there watching Drew Brees dominate on Monday Night Football to the tune of 307 yards, four scores and a completion percentage of 96.7 and thought “man, we’re screwed next week.”

While that could still hold true, there is a reason to be optimistic about facing the future Hall of Fame quarterback. There is one undeniable fact about the career of Brees: he isn’t as dominant a quarterback outdoors as he is playing in a dome.

For his career, Brees’ completion percentage outdoors (65 percent) is almost five points lower than that of his mark for games indoors (69.9 percent).

Furthermore, he has played in eight less games outdoors (127) than he has indoors (135) during his career, but has thrown for 10,000 less yards and 105 fewer passing touchdowns when playing outside. His career passer rating inside is 104.9, as compared to 91.4 outside.

The weather forecast for Sunday calls for a chilly 46 degrees at kickoff and mostly calm conditions. The Titans will hope the colder temperature works to their advantage and against Brees in Week 16.
