There are reasons for optimism and concern for the Tennessee Titans in their Week 16 matchup against the New Orleans Saints.

The Tennessee Titans and New Orleans Saints will go head-to-head in Week 16 at Nissan Stadium with both teams vying for playoff positioning.

While the Saints have already clinched their spot by taking the NFC North, they are still trying to land one of two spots at the top of the conference that will guarantee them a first-round bye.

If all goes well, the Saints even have a chance to get the No. 1 seed and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

As for the Titans, they are on the outside looking in but have a few ways to get into the playoffs.

A Titans win paired with a Houston Texans loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would set Tennessee up with a Week 17 showdown that would determine the AFC South. However, should the Texans win or the Titans lose, the division would be wrapped up for Houston after Week 16.

In the AFC wild card hunt, the Titans are tied record-wise with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the team that is clinging to the last spot over Tennessee thanks to a tiebreaker. The Titans will need some help to obtain that final spot, but there is a very realistic possibility they can surpass the Steelers in the last two weeks of the season.

With all that in mind, let’s take a look at some reasons for optimism and concern for the Titans in Week 16.
