The Tennessee Titans and kicker Greg Joseph have agreed to a three-year deal, according to his agent.
On Tuesday night, there was a report from Pro Football Talk stating that the Tennessee Titans were going to sign kicker Greg Joseph off the Carolina Panthers’ practice squad, and now the deal has been confirmed by the player’s agent.
On Wednesday morning, NFL Agent Brett Tessler confirmed that Joseph’s deal with the Titans is indeed signed and that it is for three years.
According to ESPN’s Turron Davenport, the Titans have also placed kicker Ryan Succop on Injured Reserve.
The move to sign Joseph comes on the heels of the Titans waiving kicker Ryan Santoso, who was handling kickoff duties for the team but wasn’t having much success. He also botched an onside kick in the Week 15 loss to the Houston Texans.
It was clear the Titans were going to make another move after the team didn’t make another addition to the 53-man roster to replace Santoso, and instead re-added defensive back Kareem Orr to the practice squad.
Tennessee brought Santoso in for such a role because fellow kicker, Ryan Succop, was struggling to get touchbacks on kickoffs. Succop has also struggled with field goals this season, missing five of his six attempts since returning from injured reserve in Week 9.
As a team, the Titans are 8-of-18 on field goal attempts in 2019.
Joseph will now take over the kicking duties for the Titans, and he did post some solid numbers for Cleveland last season.
Joseph made 17-of-20 field goals in 14 games for the Browns last, including a long of 51 yards. In 69 kickoff attempts, Joseph notched a touchback on 68 percent of them.
Joseph, who is a native of Johannesburg, South Africa, was an undrafted free agent out of Florida Atlantic in 2018. He was signed to Panthers’ practice squad after losing out on the Browns’ starting job to fifth-round pick, Austin Seibert.
