3. Truly awful kicking
I don’t need to throw stats at you because this one is just so abundantly obvious. Ryan Succop is having a terrible season and it is probably going to end up being his last year with the Titans and an end to a good career with the team.
While he is getting some of the residual hate left over by previous kickers that have hurt the team this year, the fact is that Succop has actively hurt the Titans since he has come back so much so that the Titans coaching staff opted to set up a fake punt to try to draw pass interference rather than let him try a long kick Sunday.
His last kick was low and slow and it looked like it would have been blocked on about 90% of attempts.
While there is some issue with the long snapping and even the punting here and there, the biggest problem on special teams is the kickers and it has already cost the Titans two wins this year and threatens to end the season early.
I don’t know if signing another kicker would help at this point, but if you are going to carry two kickers on your roster you better have one that can make a field goal and one that can dominate kick offs or else you are just wasting roster spots and money.
