Concern: Derrick Henry’s hamstring

Derrick Henry is arguably the hottest running back in the NFL over the last four weeks and has been vital to the success of the Titans’ offense in that span. Because of Henry, Tannehill and the Titans’ passing attack has been carving up opposing defenses with play action.

The only thing that can stop Henry at this point is an injury, and that’s exactly what he is dealing with right now.

After being listed on the injury report with a hammy issue the last two weeks, Henry showed all the signs of playing hurt in Week 14 and admitted he was hobbled after the game. Despite playing through injury, Henry still posted 103 yards and two scores.

Henry started off this week as a non-participant in practice, and while I don’t think there’s any chance he sits even if the injury lingers into Sunday, there is always the chance he re-aggravates it bad enough during the Week 15 game to leave early.

If that happens, the Titans would be left with Dion Lewis and Khari Blasingame to carry the rock, and that would be a major downgrade for Tennessee’s offense. A big part of the Titans’ success through the air has been via play action passes, and the threat Henry poses to opposing defenses is the reason why that works.
