Derrick Henry injury: Mike Vrabel gives brief update on Titans RB’s status
Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel gave a brief update on the status of running back Derrick Henry.
After playing through an injured hamstring during the Tennessee Titans’ 42-21 Week 14 win over the Oakland Raiders, all eyes will be on running back Derrick Henry.
The Alabama product finished with 103 yards and two scores, to go along with one catch for six yards. While Henry certainly had himself yet another solid game, it was clear he wasn’t running the same when carrying the rock.
Henry was getting treatment on the sideline during the game, and even left to the locker room just before the end of the first half to get a head start on working on his injured hammy. At one point, the television announcers even said he had to fight his way back onto the field.
During post-game pressers, both Henry and head coach Mike Vrabel acknowledged that the back was playing through an injury. The injury is nothing new, as Henry had been listed on the injury report with it the past two weeks and the Titans have been managing his reps in practice.
On Monday, Vrabel explained that the Titans would take the same approach with their star running back this week ahead of the game with the Houston Texans. Unfortunately, we don’t have anything more than that.
When Henry first popped up on the injury report two weeks ago, he was limited in practice on Wednesday and Thursday before getting in a full session on Friday. Last week was slightly different, as Henry was a did not practice on Wednesday, and then was limited on Thursday and full on Friday.
Expect more of the same this week. Henry likely won’t practice much, if at all, before Friday as the Titans try to get him as much rest and rehab as possible before taking the field once again.
As of this moment, there’s nothing to indicate that Henry will miss the Week 15 game, but we’ll have to monitor how he is throughout to week in order to make sure that’s actually the case.
