Tennessee Titans: A.J. Brown calls on Madden 20 to boost his ratings
Tennessee Titans wide receiver A.J. Brown should be in for a boost in his player ratings in the video game Madden NFL 20 after a great Week 14 performance.
It’s clear that Tennessee Titans rookie wide receiver A.J. Brown thinks a ratings boost is in order in Madden NFL 20 after his sensational Week 14 performance.
Brown torched the Oakland Raiders for a career-high 153 yards and two touchdowns in the Titans’ 42-21 win.
The highlight of Brown’s day came in the second quarter when he caught a pass from quarterback Ryan Tannehill and took it 91 yards to the house. The play showcased Brown’s elite yards after catch ability, his strength and his underrated speed.
On Monday, Brown reminded the people who handle the ratings that it’s time for an update, and that update should include better ratings for him.
While Brown was clearly being playful, he does indeed deserve better marks than what he currently has.
Entering Week 14, Brown owned an overall rating of 77, with an 85 in awareness, 89 in speed, 91 in acceleration and 84 in catch, according to the game’s official website. Since Week 1, Brown has seen his overall mark go up by five from 72, but his speed has remained the same.
If I’m going to take Madden 20 to task on any two ratings, it’s the 66 strength one and the 74 break tackle for two. The Ole Miss product routinely sheds would-be tacklers whenever the ball is in his hands, and I’m not sure there are too many receivers as strong as him in the NFL.
He should see a significant boost in both of those categories, as well as in the speed department, and that should lead to Brown crossing into 80 overall rating territory.
For the season, Brown leads the Titans in receiving yards with 779 and touchdowns through the air with six. He has also caught 10 passes for gains of 20 yards or more, and he now has three touchdowns of 55 yards or more.
Not only has Brown become one of the most explosive players in the NFL this season, he might be the best of the wide receiver class from the 2019 NFL Draft and he should be in the discussion for Offensive Rookie of the Year.
I’d say that deserves better than a 77 rating.
