Optimism: Raiders’ defense

We already mentioned that the Raiders have been on the decline the past two games, and that mostly has to do with their defense. Of the 74 points Oakland has given up in its last two games, 34 of those were to the Jets, which speaks for itself. In all, the Raiders are allowing 27 points per contest, the fifth-worst in the NFL.

Against the pass, the Raiders are giving up 258.2 yards per game, which ranks them No. 24 in the NFL. Oakland has been better against the run with the No. 11 run defense, but even still the Raiders are giving up 103.6 yards on the ground, and the Titans are coming off a game in which Derrick Henry torched a superior run defense in Indianapolis.

Tennessee has multiple ways it can attack Oakland, and as always that starts with getting Henry the rock. He should be able to find a rhythm in this game with the Titans’ offensive line looking dominant in run blocking, so there is plenty of reasons to believe Ryan Tannehill and Co. can have yet another solid offensive game.
