The Tennessee Titans improved their AFC South and playoff positioning after the Week 13 win over the Indianapolis Colts.

The Tennessee Titans finally got over the hump against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 13, and as a result their chances of making the playoffs improved.

According to the New York Times, Tennessee now has a 37 percent chance to make the playoffs and a 20 percent chance to win the AFC South after Week 13.

With the win over Indy, Tennessee now sits in second place in the AFC South, but remain one game behind the Houston Texans for first place after they beat the New England Patriots on Sunday Night Football.

Here’s a look at the division standings going into Week 14.

AFC South standings

1. Houston Texans (8-4)

2. Tennessee Titans (7-5)

3. Indianapolis Colts (6-6)

4. Jacksonville Jaguars (4-8)

In Week 14, Tennessee will hit the road to meet the Oakland Raiders, while the Texans will host the Denver Broncos. If Tennessee can go 3-1 in its last four games, and two of those wins come against the Texans in Weeks 15 and 17, Tennessee will win the AFC South.

As far as the chase for the wild card is concerned, the Titans also improved their outlook there.

AFC playoff picture

1. Baltimore Ravens (10-2)

2. New England Patriots (10-2)

3. Houston Texans (8-4)

4. Kansas City Chiefs (8-4)

5. Buffalo Bills (9-3)

6. Pittsburgh Steelers (7-5)

7. Tennessee Titans (7-5)

After beating the Colts, and combined with a loss by the Raiders to the Kansas City Chiefs, Tennessee jumped up two spots from No. 9 to No. 7 in the playoff hunt. Unfortunately, the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Cleveland Browns or else the Titans would be in the No. 6 spot.

In Week 14, the Steelers will travel to Arizona to take on the Cardinals. Of course, a Steelers loss and a Titans win will put head coach Mike Vrabel’s team in that final wild card spot for the time being.

While the Titans might not be in a playoff spot at the moment, they remain in a great position to have a chance to play past December, and with the way this season has gone, I think Titans fans would take that all day and twice on Sunday right now.
