Jonnu Smith’s stock: Down

Update: Wednesday, November 27th at 1:22 p.m. EST

Well, we wrote this before the news came down that Delanie Walker was being placed on injured reserve, ending his season.

Even with this being the case, Smith’s stock doesn’t change. He hasn’t done much even with Walker out the past four games. He does, however, become a bit less risky of a start now that Walker won’t take snaps from him. Start at your own risk, though.

End of Update

In his last three games, tight end Jonnu Smith has been awfully quiet. The young tight end has just seven catches for 48 yards, and he failed to record a single catch in the Week 12 win over the Jaguars in game that saw the Titans score 42 points.

Adding to the disappointment of his numbers is the fact that he’s been this quiet without tight end Delanie Walker in the lineup. The veteran has been absent the last four games and while it looked as though he might suit-up in Week 12, he ended up being inactive.

As the weeks go on, Walker’s chances of returning grow greater, and we fully expect him to play in Week 13 against the Indianapolis Colts. If that’s the case, it’s impossible to trust Smith, especially given his lack of production in recent weeks.

If there’s a bright side to Smith’s Week 12 performance, it’s that he played 50 snaps with 50, his third-highest total of the season; however he didn’t do much with those snaps.
