Snap counts: Defense

Here’s a look at the defensive snap counts for the Titans in Week 12.

Takeaways

-It is great to see Jayon Brown log a full complement of snaps. After dealing with a groin injury for weeks now, Brown appears to be healthy. Tennessee will need every play possible out of him down the stretch.

Cameron Wake, who has seen limited snap counts all season, turned in 37 on Sunday. That is the most he has played this season, and only the second time he has crossed over 30 in a game, with the other time being in Week 8 when he logged 32. Wake didn’t record any tackles and notched just one QB hit against the Jaguars.

-After missing the last two games with a shoulder injury, Jurrell Casey turned in 49 snaps and seems to have come out of it OK, so that’s good news.

Jeffery Simmons finished with just 29 snaps, his lowest total since his debut in Week 7 against the Los Angeles Chargers. It was also the lowest total of the three starting defensive lineman, so perhaps the Titans were just giving him a little extra rest in the blowout win. Simmons still managed to total five tackles (two solo).

-In Malcolm Butler‘s absence, the Titans actually used two cornerbacks to fill the hole. LeShaun Sims saw the majority of the action, but Joshua Kalu wasn’t too far behind. There were some concerns about Sims, however he played pretty well to help quell the fears of the loss of Butler for now. We’ll have to see if the two-man solution is something the Titans stick with.
