Ryan Tannehill earned respect

What gets lost in Ryan Tannehill‘s career that has been marred by injuries is the fact that he’s a tough dude. On multiple occasions during the Week 10 win over the Chiefs, Tannehill was forced to scramble with the ball and lower his shoulder into contact in order to gain extra yardage.

The best example of this came when Tannehill converted a two-point try late in the fourth quarter by lowering his shoulder in order to absorb contact and get the extra yard he needed to put the Titans up by three. If the Tannehill era becomes a success, that play will undoubtedly be the defining moment.

While you don’t want to see him taking the kind of hits he did in Week 10 on a regular basis, it was inspiring to see Tannehill leave it all out on the field, doing whatever was necessary to lead his team to victory. In short, he led by example, and that’s something the Titans needed.

There’s no longer any doubt that Tannehill was the right quarterback at the right time for this team. His leadership, toughness and ability to come through in the clutch has been on full display, and he needed every ounce of those three qualities to notch a win over the Chiefs.
