The offensive line

Speaking of group efforts, the Titans not sucking on offense in Week 10 will take five guys upfront coming together and giving their best effort. Up until this point, the offensive line has failed miserably, as Titans quarterbacks have been sacked 38 times in nine games, the most in the NFL.

Thankfully, center Ben Jones has recovered from his concussion and will play on Sunday, which means we won’t have to see Jamil Douglas at center again.

Beyond that, the Titans need the best out of guards Rodger Saffold and Nate Davis, both of whom have struggled mightily. With defensive tackle Chris Jones lining up over the middle, Saffold and Davis have got to be on their game.

But this isn’t just about blocking. As we saw early in the first half last week, the Titans O-linemen have been prone to penalties, and in particular left tackle Taylor Lewan. These penalties have been far too common and are drive-killers, which is something this offense simply can’t afford.

We’ve already seen quarterback Ryan Tannehill can produce when given time to throw, and when he doesn’t have to overcome penalties. Tennessee’s offensive line has got to do a better job of putting its quarterback in a position to succeed.
