6 Tennessee Titans who need to step up the most vs. Chiefs
Derrick Henry
The best way to attack the Chiefs’ defense is on the ground, as KC is allowing 139.6 rushing yards per game this season, the fourth-most in the NFL. Kansas City did do a great job bottling up Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook last week, but the larger sample size says the Chiefs are vulnerable to the run.
While we’ve certainly seen Derrick Henry take games over before, he’s going to need some help. Offensive coordinator Arthur Smith has got to get him going early and often, which is something we didn’t see in a similar matchup last week against a Panthers defense that was also vulnerable against the run. In that game, Henry had just two carries in the first half.
Feeding Henry will not only help the Titans move the ball, it’ll also keep the Chiefs’ offense off the field and help the Titans defense stay rested. There is no margin for error in Week 10, so the Titans have got to exploit the Chiefs defense in every way possible, and that starts with getting Henry heavily involved from beginning to end.
Anything short of 20-plus carries for the Alabama product would be criminal.
