Optimism: The defense

Even with all the struggles the Titans offense has seen this season, the defense has remained the one constant and continues to play at a high level. In Week 8, the Titans’ defense surrendered more than 20 points for the first time all season, and Tennessee was still able to win.

Now that we’re seeing a bit more competence on offense, the Titans should be in a better position to win games moving forward.

Tennessee has a rough schedule the rest of the way, filled with talented offenses that can make things tough. However, sporting the kind of elite defense the Titans have will at least help keep them in games.

Even before Jeffery Simmons’ return, the Titans were playing great defense. Now that the 2019 first-round pick has returned and is already showing out, he’s added even more talent to a defense that was already elite. As he continues to get into game shape more and get his feet wet, Simmons can take this defense up a notch all by himself.

If Tennessee’s defense can keep up its stellar play from the first half of the season, the Titans don’t necessarily need their offense to be great, and that will undoubtedly make things easier for this team.
