Comeback Player of the Year: Jonnu Smith

It took tight end Jonnu Smith, who suffered an MCL injury late in the season in 2018, a bit of time to get himself more involved in the offense, but a recent injury to fellow tight end Delanie Walker has given Smith a chance to really shine.

We saw flashes of what Smith can do early in the season, but he has come alive in the last two games, posting nine catches for 142 yards and one touchdown in that span. Adding to that, Smith has proven to be a big-play machine, with six catches of 20 yards or more in eight games.

He stands just 19 yards away from topping the production he totaled in all of 2018, and Smith could be forcing a changing of the guard at tight end in Tennessee.

Honorable mention: Delanie Walker

Walker’s production has slowed of late because of poor quarterback play and injuries, however I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention how impressive his season has been in spite of those things.

Walker is returning from a brutal ankle injury that forced him to miss all but one game last season and he was the Titans’ most productive pass-catcher for most of the first half of the year. At age 35, Walker looks like he still has it, but injuries might have started to catch up to him.
