Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill shared the news of the passing of his father-in-law on Sunday.

Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill was playing with a heavy heart on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Just hours after leading the Titans to a huge Week 8 win over the Buccaneers, quarterback Tannehill shared the sad news of the unexpected death of his father-in-law John on Wednesday.

The Titans quarterback revealed the sad passing of the father of his wife Lauren on Sunday night through a heartfelt message on his Instagram page.

In his message, Tannehill explained how his father-in-law wanted him to get a win for his birthday, which was on Tuesday, just one day before his death.

Well, Tannehill did just that, as he orchestrated a 90-yard drive in the fourth quarter that resulted in a touchdown pass to wide receiver A.J. Brown, ultimately proving to be the game-winner. In all, Tannehill finished 21-of-33 for 193 yards and three touchdowns in the winning effort.

It was a rough day for the Titans on both sides of the ball, but somehow Tennessee was able to overcome its woes to finish strong and grab the home win. It wasn’t pretty by any means, however a win is a win and it gets the Titans back to .500 on the season.

Tannehill is now 2-0 as Tennessee’s starter and has had a big hand in turning around the fortunes of not just the offense, but the team’s season as a whole.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Tannehill, his wife Lauren, and the rest of their family for their loss.
