3. Jeffery Simmons is no one-hit wonder, but needs to get in shape

After a great first game last week, Jeffery Simmons continued to look impressive. He was given the first start of his career, and played 34 snaps according to AtoZ Sports’ Buck Reising.

After a huge pass interference call on the first drive of the game gave the Buccaneers the ball from the Titans’ four-yard line, Simmons made a huge hit on Peyton Barber to stuff him for no gain.

He didn’t register a sack in this game, but he did have two tackles, and did a pretty good job of getting after Winston.

The problem with Simmons is he isn’t quite in game shape yet, and it showed on a few plays where he was noticeably out of breath after being on the field as much as he was.

As the season goes on, that should not be a huge issue, as he will be able to build stamina through hard work during the week and then game reps as well. Plus, the Titans defensive line is deep enough to get a good rotation for Simmons to get a breather when he needs it.
