At the beginning of the season, a lot of people had this marked down as Mariota vs Winston III. Marcus Mariota’s Oregon Ducks beat Jameis Winston’s Florida State Seminoles (my favorite college team) in convincing fashion in the semifinals of the inaugural FBS playoffs. After they were both drafted that spring, Mariota again got the better of Winston in both QB’s debuts, with the Titans trouncing the Buccaneers 42-14, which was their most recent meeting.

Mariota is now riding the bench for the Titans, with Ryan Tannehill now under center. Winston could be heading in that same direction if he has another performance like he did in Week 6 against the Panthers, where he turned the ball over six times.

The Buccaneers currently have the worst passing defense in the NFL by a pretty big margin, giving up 304.5 yards per game. That being said, Tannehill could be in for a career day against this Buccaneers secondary that is on pace to give up the most passing yards in a single season.

The defense will force Winston into mistakes, and the Titans will win this one convincingly.

Prediction: Titans 35, Buccaneers 17
