Tennessee Titans: Ranking 5 Defensive Players Through 7 Games
3. FS Kevin Byard
It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that Byard made this list, as he has consistently made big plays for the Titans in each of his first four seasons.
Through seven games, Byard has 36 tackles, one tackle for a loss, and three interceptions, tying him for second in the league so far this season.
As good as Byard has been in coverage, he really has done an impressive job in run defense, with Pro Football Focus giving him an 82.9 grade in that particular department.
The Titans have not utilized him much in the pass rush department, with him only blitzing on five pass plays so far this season, but with how good the front seven has been with the pass rush, he’s better served in coverage anyways.
Byard continues to stake his claim as one of the NFL’s top safeties, and is a big part of why the Titans currently boast the eighth-ranked defense in the league.
