2. Jeffery Simmons makes a huge impact
The Titans activated the rookie from the Non-Football Injury (NFI) list shortly after releasing Brent Urban, so they have to expect that Jeffery Simmons could make an impact on this game, otherwise they would not have gone out of their way to make space for him.
Simmons was expected to be a top-five pick by some before tearing his ACL in February, so the belief has been that the Titans got a steal by picking him 19th overall in this past spring’s draft. He had 18 tackles for a loss his final year at Mississippi State in 2018, so he is a threat to make plays and big stops against the run.
Jurrell Casey seems to be pretty excited about the possibilities of Simmons being on the field with him.
Simmons bolsters an already pretty solid Titans defensive line, and it now looks complementary to the secondary.
He will no doubt probably have a snap count that defensive coordinator Dean Pees will hold him to, but in limited snaps, he could be a game-changer.
