Ryan Tannehill cemented himself as the starter

Many (myself included) wondered what the former Miami Dolphins quarterback still had left in the tank. Saying there was a mixed reaction on the decision to change quarterbacks within the fan base would be a massive understatement. However, the former eighth-overall pick let everyone know that he was not taking this opportunity for granted.

New QB1 Ryan Tannehill came out slinging the rock and getting the receivers involved early and often, something that former starting quarterback Marcus Mariota was not doing enough. The former Texas A&M star was very decisive in his decision-making, as he wasn’t afraid to trust what he saw in order to get the ball out of his hands on time to let his playmakers make plays.

The two-tone blue debut wasn’t perfect for the former Dolphins quarterback, but he did play well enough that ALL Titans fans should be excited about what this offense could possibly be like with No. 17 under center.

This often stagnant Titans offense has the potential to be much improved as long as Tannehill can consistently manage a game and take advantage of what the opposing defenses give him, while also not being afraid to take a few chances here and there with his talented playmakers out wide. He certainly showed he was not afraid to do that in this small sample size.

Tannehill finished his impressive QB1 debut in Tennessee by completing  23-of-29 passes for 312 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception – good enough for a passer rating of 120.1

It’s too early to say whether Ryan Tannehill can realistically be the future franchise quarterback in Tennessee, but he sure made a great opening statement to all of those who doubted him prior to Sunday’s victory. There’s no doubt he’s this team’s starter moving forward.
