3 things we learned when Tennessee Titans called up Jeffery Simmons
By Will Lomas
Simmons is well respected by the team and the coaching staff.
Through comments from as early as training camp, it was clear that Jeffery Simmons was well liked by fellow Titans players. Whether it was praise from Jurrell Casey back in the preseason, or if it was this week when Cameron Wake was joking around with the young guy, you can tell that they just like him as a person.
That combined with the coaching staff’s apparent willingness to trust him taking up the snaps of at least one of the DTs that was cut (maybe more depending on situation) go beyond that.
For a rookie who has practiced just one week since tearing his ACL in February, to get the nod to immediately get back on the field is almost unprecedented. It speaks to his conditioning and his work ethic as a guy who was making the most of his mental reps, and it is something that we are dangerously close to overlooking right now.
It is impressive that Simmons has been able to get on the field so soon and it should make you even more excited to see him this week.
