Tennessee Titans tight end Delanie Walker gives his thoughts on possible starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

With there being a good chance of quarterback Ryan Tannehill taking over as the starter for the Tennessee Titans, he may have just gotten a huge co-sign from one of his main receiving threats.

Tight end Delanie Walker handed out glowing praise for Tannehill when asked about his thoughts on the Titans quarterback.

“Elite” is not exactly a word that I would use to describe Tannehill, but that just shows that Walker has faith in Tannehill to get the job done should he be the starter. During his tenure with the Miami Dolphins, he definitely has had his moments, twice throwing for over 4,000 yards (2014 and 2015).

Tannehill entered Sunday’s 16-0 loss to the Denver Broncos in place of Marcus Mariota, who was relegated to the bench after throwing 2 interceptions within 4 attempts in the second half.

Mariota finished the game 7-of-18 for 63 yards and those two interceptions and was not doing a great job of moving the football, as the Titans did not have a single play in Denver territory while he was on the field.

Tannehill, meanwhile, went 13-of-16 for 144 yards and an interception of his own. He twice got the Titans into the red-zone, and though neither trip produced any points, the offense just seemed to flow much better with him at the helm as opposed to Mariota.

A starter for next weeks game against the Los Angeles Chargers will be named soon, according to the Titans official Twitter account.

If the offensive line plays as poorly as they have all season (they’ve allowed a league-high 29 sacks through six games), and if the offensive play-calling is as stagnant as it’s been, it may not even matter who the starter is.

One thing’s for sure, Tannehill clearly outplayed Mariota this past Sunday, and all signs point to him being the starter moving forward.
