It looks like the Tennessee Titans will get their starting kicker Ryan Succop back on time in Week 9.

After suffering through kicker woes for much of the 2019 season, it appears the Tennessee Titans will get their starting kicker Ryan Succop back on time. Succop was placed on Injured Reserve to start the season and is eligible to return after Week 8.

Succop had offseason knee surgery and while he was expected to be good to go for Week 1, the Titans kicker decided he didn’t feel enough pop in his leg quite yet, which led to him unexpectedly being put in IR.

While we did expect Succop to be ready when he was eligible to return for Week 9, Paul Kuharsky has basically confirmed that the kicker will be good to go when the Titans take on the Carolina Panthers.

After Succop was placed on IR, the Titans signed Cairo Santos to take his place. Santos was OK to start, but he totally imploded in Week 5 with four missed field goals, one of which was blocked. We also can’t forget about his crucial field goal miss in Week 2 against the Indianapolis Colts.

The Titans then released Santos and have since signed Cody Parkey to take his place and fill the gap until Succop returns. Parkey didn’t attempt either a field goal or extra point in his first game in Week 6, as the Titans were shutout by the Denver Broncos.

Tennessee should welcome back Succop with open arms after all the issues it has had this season. Succop is entering his sixth year with the Titans and has made 83.6 percent of his field goals for his career.

He’ll certainly add some stability to a Titans kicking unit that desperately needs it. Now if the Titans can just get in positions to actually use him, that would be great.
