Titans can’t wait on Rodger Saffold

How long are the Titans going to wait on left guard Rodger Saffold to show up? After six games, Saffold has done nothing to improve this offensive line, and instead has been a direct detriment to it with his poor play.

A lot of talk before the season and even after left tackle Taylor Lewan‘s return was how swing tackle Dennis Kelly could challenge right tackle Jack Conklin for a starting job. In fact, Vrabel even said Kelly would challenge for that spot before Week 5.

However, Kelly needs to be given the opportunity to challenge for another spot along the offensive line at left guard. There is absolutely no reason why Saffold should be safe at this point. I don’t care how much he’s being paid because the money is already wasted with how bad Saffold has played through six games.

The Titans won’t get that back, but what they can get back is sufficient offensive line play, and that might only happen if Saffold is removed for Kelly in the near future. Kelly does have some experience playing there, so it’s certainly worth a shot, and that’s especially true considering Kelly has always answered the bell when the Titans need him.

Hell, I’d even consider giving Pamphile a shot there and keeping Davis at right guard. Whatever it takes so that we don’t have to see Saffold counting money for doing nothing. The Titans need to find the best five-man combination upfront and Saffold clearly isn’t part of that equation.
