Nate Davis isn’t ready

I was surprised to see that right guard Kevin Pamphile was inactive on Sunday. He had practiced fully all week and it looked as though he was ready to return. It would have made sense for Tennessee to at least give him some snaps to see if he was a better option than rookie Nate Davis.

Instead, it was Davis who got the nod and played the entire game. What we saw was a rookie offensive lineman who doesn’t look ready for prime time quite yet, as he was getting bulldozed by opposing defensive lineman and committed at least one penalty.

We have no idea if Pamphile will even be an upgrade, however he does have the experience factor over Davis. Now, this is not to say we’re throwing Davis out for good, but the Titans simply have to do something different along the offensive line in order to try and make an improvement.

Of course, these offensive line issues were here long before Davis made his debut in Week 4 and it would be short-sighted to blame him solely. It just comes down to trying new things, and it’s time the Titans see who really deserves the starting right guard spot after they were unable to get the competition we all expected to occur during training camp.
