What are the three biggest priorities for the Tennessee Titans against the Denver Broncos?

There are three top priorities the Tennessee Titans need to take care of if they’re going to win against the Denver Broncos on Sunday.

Let’s take a look.

1. Stop Von Miller

The Titans offensive line has had plenty of struggles through the first five games and, as expected, it has hampered the offense greatly.

If the Titans are going to do anything offensively in Week 6, they must stop Von Miller. The Broncos’ elite pass-rusher has just two sacks to start the season, and Denver as a whole has a total of five, tied for the fewest in the NFL.

Should the Titans stop Miller, the Broncos will have a tough time getting sacks at all and Marcus Mariota will have the time he needs to find his receivers down the field.

2. Stop Phillip Lindsay

The best weapon the Broncos have on offense is running back Phillip Lindsay. He was easily one of the biggest reasons Denver was able to notch its first win of the season last week against the Los Angeles Chargers, as he totaled 147 total yards (114 rushing, 7.6 yards per carry).

Adding to Lindsay, fellow back Royce Freeman is another player Tennessee needs to limit on the ground.

If Dean Pees’ defense can stop Lindsay and Freeman, that will force quarterback Joe Flacco to throw the football, and we’ve seen just how prone to mistakes Flacco can be this season (four picks, three fumbles lost).

Not to mention, limiting Lindsay will keep Broncos drives short and the Titans defense fresh.

3. Dealing with the altitude

One of the biggest concerns for any visiting team in Denver is the altitude. Even the most conditioned players can fall victim to this, thus the Titans must do everything necessary to avoid falling victim to it.

It’ll be important for the Titans to sustain drives on offense, which starts with running the football. Last week, running back Derrick Henry had just five carries in the first half, and that needs to change this week, especially considering one of the weaknesses of the Broncos defense has been against the run.

If Tennessee can establish Henry, who may need some help to keep himself fresh, they can sustain drives and keep the defense off the field. A fresh defense will lead to better play, and the Broncos will have an even tougher time scoring points against the Titans.
